چکیده
Abstract Flash flood events are common in the Mediterranean basin, because of a combination rugged coastal topography and climatological characteristics. The Balearic Islands flood-prone region with research area, Sóller (Mallorca) being no exception. Between 1900 2000, experienced 48 flash floods 17 categorised as catastrophic. In Sóller, local surface water network comprises ephemeral streams. These natural networks that only carry during periods intense rainfall. Using available evidence from 1974 flood, this used Flood Modeller to simulate event. developed one-dimensional (1D) two-dimensional (1D-2D) model assisted understanding behaviour stream flood. Analysis hydraulic parameters such flow, depth velocity provided an appreciation interaction between channel floodplain. Model development aims forecast impending impacts climate change urbanisation. results suggest characteristics Sóller’s catchment area naturally encourage flooding hence can be deemed flashy catchment. demonstrates floodplain relies heavily on roughness both areas. proves if intensity increases change, extent consequently damage will become more severe.

متن کاملA spatially distributed flash flood forecasting model
This paper presents a distributed model that is in operational use for forecasting flash floods in northern Austria. The main challenge in developing the model was parameter identification which was addressed by a modelling strategy that involved a model structure defined at the model element scale and multi-source model identification. The model represents runoff generation on a grid basis and...
